Description

Four Leaf Rover‘s double extraction process makes sure that the beneficial beta-glucans and triterpenoids in their Turkey Tail Extract are bioavailable, complete with all the mushrooms health-supporting properties and able to enhance immune function.

Their mushrooms are grown in greenhouses on natural wood and substrates in filtered air. The whole mushroom is then double extracted and gently powdered, then tested for safety and a high beta-glucan content.

Mushrooms contain a fruiting body (the part of the mushroom you’d recognize) and mycelium, the part that grows underground or inside the plant. Think of the mycelium as the roots of the mushroom. Nearly all mushroom products are mycelium, not the actual mushroom. They’re grown in a lab on sterilized grains (such as rice, sorghum or oats) and ground into a powder.

It’s important to note that most of the beta-glucan is found in the fruiting body of the mushroom and it’s expensive and time consuming to grow mushrooms this way, which is why this product is superior to many of its counterparts.

If you’re buying a mycelium product, you’re not getting the beta-glucan rich content of the fruiting body. Beta-glucans are the active compounds in mushrooms. Fruiting bodies are full spectrum and also offer more vitamins and minerals. Without them, you’re not getting a real mushroom and your dog is not getting all of the health benefits.

Turkey tail mushrooms carry an array of health benefits. They’re immune modulating and are nice prebiotics. But there are two components that have cancer researchers excited: Polysaccharide-K (PSK) and polysaccharide-P (PSP).

Both PSK and PSP are beta-glucans, which are fibers that give the mushroom its structure. Beta-glucans can bind directly to your dog’s immune cells and restore a healthy immune response. They also bind to macrophages, which are the immune cells responsible for destroying cancer cells.

In 2012, researchers at the University of Pennsyvania examined how polysaccharopeptide (PSP) from turkey tail mushrooms could help dogs with hemangiosarcoma. They gave PSP from turkey tail to dogs in a double blind study with no other treatments. The study results were remarkablе. Тhe dogs in the study had the longest survival times ever reported for dogs with the disease. Without surgery and without chemotherapy.

Turkey Tail FAQ's

What is Turkey Tail?

Turkey tail is a cloud mushroom that lives in many places around the globe. It blossoms on dead wood.

The unique thing about Turkey Tail is that it can thrive and survive through cold winter months and in warmer temperatures unlike most mushrooms that grow only in the warmer seasons.

Why would I give Turkey Tail to my dog?

According to research there are a variety of health benefits Turkey Tail Mushrooms can help with.

They pack a punch when helping fight immune deficiencies. They’ve also been known to help support immune functions, relief from oxidation stress, and promotes the good bacterium in the gut.

How do I know if I have a real mushroom product?

You’ll know the product contains the full beta-glucan compounds your dog deserves if the product uses the whole fruiting body (not just mycelium).

What this means is you’re looking for the part of the mushroom that shows above ground and the good stuff that goes beneath the surface.

Most mushroom products are mycelium and not the actual mushroom. Grown on grains like oats and rice, they are made in labs then ground up into a powder.

The problem is, if you’re buying a mycelium mushroom product, you’re missing out on the rich beta-glucan content that comes from the whole fruiting body that you’re looking for for your dog.

Beta-glucans are active compounds found in mushrooms. And the whole fruiting body offers more vitamins and minerals for your dog.

How are your mushrooms grown?

Four Leaf Rover’s mushrooms grow on wood. This ensures that the medicinal compounds people look for in mushrooms, are actually in them.

The greenhouses have fresh and water air filtering through with natural sunshine coming in.

After harvest time, the mushrooms are tested for chemicals or contamination.

Are your mushrooms water extracted or dried?

FLR’s mushrooms are water extracted because the fruiting bodies need hot water to help break down chitin in the cell walls. Dogs and humans don’t have the digestive enzyme required to break down chitin. This is why this form of extraction is used to ensure all the nutrients from the fruiting body are intact. Extraction pulls out the beta-glucans. The extraction is now purified, then dried into a powder with all the essential mushroom elements intact.

How do I know if your mushrooms are high quality?

All of FLR’s mushroom bathes are checked for bacteria, chemicals, pesticides and heavy metals. The next step is testing the mushroom extracts for beta-glucan content to make sure the mushrooms are true and medicinal. All of our mushrooms are certified organic. They are free of heavy metals and pesticides. No mycelium, no grains, and no starches.

Is it ok to give my dogs mushrooms more than once a day?

Once a day should be enough if your dog’s not dealing with any health issues.

For a dog that is fighting an illness and is looking for more support, you can give mushrooms up to two times a day.
