World renowned holistic vet Dr. Nick Thompson is hosting a conference for Hearty Apetite in Sofia on 17 May 2025 on the subject of Raw Feeding.
This will be an all day event, held in English. Dr. Nick will be sharing the latest research on the benefits, debunking the myths surrounding the dangers, and diving into important pet wellness topics that can empower pet parents to proactively help their pets live longer and healthier lives.
Nick has been fighting for responsible, species-appropriate raw food feeding for pets for over 25 years. From birth to graceful old age, his tireless drive for healthy pets brought him to raw feeding in the mid-1990s.
Nick is the Founding President of the International Raw Feeding Veterinary Society and has co-authored a pioneering worldwide survey of 79 vets and their experiences feeding raw food.
In 1999, Nick established his specialist practice, Holisticvet. Based in the UK, he offers homeopathy, natural nutrition, herbal medicine, and good old-fashioned common sense for dogs and horses.
His favourite topics are gastroenterology, the microbiome, and the misuse of pharmaceuticals in medicine. He loves researching all aspects of human and animal nutrition. Nick is a regular contributor to YouTube discussions on raw feeding and blogs to promote the cause.
Nick’s influence extends globally, as he shares his passion for raw feeding through a nutritional consultancy service to premier raw pet food companies in the UK and Europe. His lectures and consultations in Raw Food, Nutrition and Medicine have reached audiences throughout the UK, Ireland, Northern Ireland, Finland, Spain, Portugal, France, Germany, the Czech Republic, Belgium, New Zealand, UAE and the Netherlands.
Nick is a founding member of Raw Pet Medics, along with Dr Conor Brady and Dr Brendan Clarke. They produce weekly Facebook and Youtube programmes and podcasts on all things raw and dog nutrition.

Nick’s personal life is a testament to his love for animals. He is married to Elly and has two children, Arthur and Ophelia. They share their home in Wiltshire, UK with six chickens, five peacocks, a Snowshoe cat called Ziggy, and Whippet-Italian Greyhound crosses called Bluebell and Mouse. Jet, an 11-month-old Lurcher rescue, is a recent addition to the household.
