Description

MUSH’s LIGHT PURPLE Pork-Turkey-Chicken PUPPY Formula is a complete and balanced food developed specifically for puppies of all breeds and sizes that are still in the growth phase of their development.

The PUPPY recipe is packed with meat, organs and essential oils and contains a larger amount of bones which puppies require in order to grow a strong, healthy skeleton. More vegetables are added to promote a well-functioning tummy and to ensure that your puppy does not get constipated. This way their weight is kept under control and they stay slim throughout the growth stage.

Pork meat is very digestible and has a favourable amino acid profile. Energetically, it’s a cooling meat (according to Traditional Chinese Medicine) while pork fat has a balanced ratio of saturated and monounsaturated fats. It’s high in linoleic acid and a great source of medium chain fatty acids. Pork liver, lung and heart are lean proteins that provide many vitamins and minerals.

Turkey is a rich source of nutrients including Vitamin B3 or Niacin, which plays a critical role in processing fats into energy in the body, and B6, a vitamin that helps maintain steady blood sugar levels. It is also a good source for the minerals zinc, potassium and for vitamin B12. Turkey contains selenium, which is essential for the healthy function of the thyroid and immune system.

Chicken is rich in the trace mineral selenium, which supports thyroid health and the immune system. It also contains the cancer-protective B vitamin niacin that aids in controlling glucose levels in the body as well as converting protein, fat, and carbohydrates into usable energy. Vitamin B6 supports energy metabolism and cardiovascular health. Chicken is also a natural source of bio-available calcium, Glucosamine, and Chondroitin.

This menu contains the following chicken organ meats: chicken gizzards and liver, which are abundant in essential minerals and vitamins. Collectively they are rich sources of glucosamine, zinc, iron. B vitamins and essential fatty acids, keeping your dog’s coat silky smooth for cuddle time! Also packed with phosphorus, which helps build and strengthen your dog’s skeletal system.

Bones & Cartilage: Ground pork, turkey and chicken bones are used to provide key minerals such as calcium and phosphorus, while their cartilage is added to this menu as a great source of glucosamine to support joint health.

Vegetables provide the raw menus with important fiber, minerals, and vitamins. MUSH uses a mix of leafy greens like broccoli and lettuce, and root vegetables like carrots.

Oils: Sunflower oil is rich in omega-6, an essential fatty acid that must be gotten through food (your dog’s body cannot make it). Omega-6’s help stimulate skin and hair growth, maintain the reproductive system, and promote a healthy immune system.

Eggs: are one of the most complete foods and hence a natural source of many nutrients including high quality protein, vitamins and minerals. They are naturally rich in vitamin B2 (riboflavin), vitamin B12, vitamin D, selenium and iodine. They also contain vitamin A and a number of other B vitamins including folate, biotin, pantothenic acid and choline, and other essential minerals and trace elements, including phosphorus.

Puppies should be fed MUSH’s Puppy Menus while still growing. Once they have reached their full maturity and height it is time to switch to the Adult Vaisto products.

Depending on their breed, puppies reach maturity at different times. Small and medium sized breeds such as Shih Tzus and English Spaniels take much less time to fully grow into their adult size as compared to large and giant breeds such as Huskies and Newfoundlands.

A Shih Tzu puppy for instance takes about 6 months to reach its mature size of around 5-7 kg, whereas a Newfoundland puppy will require up to 18 months to grow into its adult height and weight of around 55-65 kg. There is a vast difference between their nutritional requirements therefore. The Shih Tzu puppy can transition to MUSH ALL BREEDS line intended for adult dogs at 6 months, whereas the Newfoundland must be over 18 months old before switching to the adult meals.

When to introduce your puppy to raw food?

You can start giving your puppy raw food as you are weaning them at about 8 to 12 weeks. When starting a puppy on a raw diet, the most common worry among pet owners is the number of microbes raw food comes with when it comes to your puppy. It is wise to note that dirt or the environment around us contains billions of microbes that puppies have access to all around us. The study also shows that giving the mom raw food before the puppies are born improves the quality of the puppy when it comes to immunity, growth, and health. Access to these not only helps your pup improve the immune system but make it possible to handle raw food.

Why raw feed puppies?

Feeding your puppy a premium raw diet comes with an impressive list of benefits.

  • Puppies grow slower and develop stronger bone structure and muscle. The body takes time to develop naturally into providing a better or more powerful stance as the puppy grows.
  • Natural foods are known to have highly digestible protein and essential oils which is one of the main contributors to your puppies’ growth, body mass, and building as well as brain development.
  • Puppies derived from parents that are on a raw diet have stronger immune systems compared to their counterparts fed processed food. The stronger body can fight diseases and infections more effectively, lowering puppy mortality at this stage.
  • Processed foods contribute to an unhealthy microbiome (lack of healthy microbe formation in the intestinal tract). Raw foods, on the other hand, are packed with healthy bacteria for a healthy gut that will produce less waste and low odour in stools.
  • Puppies used to raw food tend to develop rich fur and coats that are shiny and well colored. The eyes, nose, ears, and mouth are also richly pigmented and brightly colored.
  • A raw diet will also affect a puppy’s behavioural pattern. Raw fed puppies have more natural energy, with a moderate temperament making them easier to train and work with when it comes to obedience.

With the help of this Feeding Guide Table Overview you can feed your puppy with MUSH B.A.R.F.Vaisto Puppy Formula.

For exact daily feeding amounts please refer to our Full Feeding Guideliness. Bear in mind that all puppies are individuals and grow at their own pace. Therefore, it is important that you keep an eye on your dog and, if necessary, make changes to its daily feeding amounts to ensure it stays slim and in good shape whilst still growing in height.

*EXAMPLES: If you have a 5 month old Pomeranian puppy which is expected to reach around 3kg as an adult dog you should feed it between 100-1000g per day (150 g to be exact). For a 9 month old English Bulldog puppy expected to become around 23 kg as an adult the daily feeding amount is 1050-2000g per day (1, 150 kg to be exact).

The benefits of a raw food diet for dogs and cats

The Benefits of a Raw Food Diet

  • Healthy skin and coat – Many pets are allergic to grains, which can lead to pathologic skin conditions. A raw natural diet provides allergy relief, reduction and/or eradication.
  • Cleaner, whiter and stronger teeth – Many dry foods leave a starchy coating on the teeth, which promotes plaque. Feeding a raw diet maintains healthier teeth and gums as well as fresher breath.
  • Stools- Harder, smaller, less smelly stools that are easier to scoop up from the little box or pick up in the garden. Less smelly farts.
  • Decreased litter box odor – Many pet foods include protein that is indigestible for cats (and dogs), which leads to an undesirable odor at the litter box.
  • Natural weight control – Cats and dogs are healthiest on a high protein, low carbohydrate diet.
  • A stronger immune system, more energy and stamina – Pet’s digestive systems are designed to ingest raw meat and are healthiest eating what Nature intended.

Some Changes to Expect:

  • After a full transition to a raw diet, pets will typically drink less water. In the wild they get most of their water from their prey. A raw meat diet naturally contains more moisture than dry or canned food, so your cat or dog may be less thirsty, yet be getting plenty of water.
  • There will likely be a change in the size, odour, and color of the pet’s faeces. They will stink less! They may also be somewhat harder and dryer and be colored shades of dark and light brown. Much of the crude protein and crude fiber in most commercial dry and canned pet foods is not digestible and hence contributes to a higher stool volume. Along with the assurance of knowing that all the food your beloved pooch or feline is ingesting, is actually being digested, the less stinky poops are certainly a nice bonus!
  • Overweight Cats and Dogs tend to lose weight. However, weight loss must be closely monitored. Rapid weight loss can lead to serious health problems. Make sure you transition your pet to a raw diet gradually and seek professional advice, especially when transitioning an animal with chronic health issues.
  • Lethargic Pets begin feeling more energised, start to play more and may even exhibit hunting behaviour. Dogs and cats are healthiest when fed a high protein, low carbohydrate diet. When they aren’t experiencing the metabolic highs and lows associated with high carbohydrate intake from grains, typically found in kibble, they will use protein as their energy source, just as they were designed by nature to do. This tends to provide more sustained energy throughout the day and reduces the need to “graze”.
  • Allergies tend to clear up, which may be a result of less exposure to potential food allergens. Many pets have allergies to grains that can range from very mild to severe. These allergies can manifest on the skin, can affect digestion, and also contribute to runny eyes & nose and itchy ears or paws. The reduction in allergic symptoms may be a result of not only a reduced exposure to allergens from a higher food quality, but also from a stronger immune system. The more nutritious the food, the stronger the immune system will be.
  • Fur becomes incredibly soft and shedding is reduced. This is typically one of the initial benefits observed after changing to a raw diet and is a direct result of better nutrition. The humans in the household also stand to gain a lot as well, when switching their pets to raw, as they are less likely to suffer allergic reactions due to the reduction of dander.
